I have been a student of Grandmaster Larry Ritchie for the past 15 years. He has made a huge impact on my life with the help of the ABBA Black Belt staff. I wouldn't be who I am today without the training and guidance I've received from ABBA. They've molded me into a leader and a teacher. We have the best students and teachers around, anywhere. I believe this is because GM Ritchie and ABBA have held on to our deep heritage, for so long, without giving in to the diluted market. Starting in Texas GM Allen Steen and his student GM J. Pat Burleson created a lineage of tough, tried and true fighters that will be p#@*%!ed on for many years to come. Chief instructor GM Ritchie has trained an abundance of champion martial artists throughout his dynamic career. He, his teachers, and his students have proven their skills in real-life situations again and again. Even ones you can never fathom. ABBA is truly the real deal in self-defense and martial arts. I feel honored to be a part of the Black Belt staff and family here at ABBA.

Master Larry is a fantastic instructor! I took Tae-Kwon Do from Larry back in the early 70's @ Black Belt Academy (BBA) on Katy Freeway right by my high school, Westchester. I remember Larry had an apartment behind the studio. Some cl#@*%!mates I recall were Chris Klecka, Penny Dittman, Mark and Miles McKellar, Mark O'Brien, Mark Snyder, and my cousin, Chuck Conaway. Boy, those were the days! I also recall working security for Concerts West (through BBA) and my very first concert ever was Led Zeppelin @ Sam Houston Coliseum! I also remember going to a tournament in Dallas as a green belt and beating a brown belt. I lost to a black belt who went on to win my division - his name was Victor Folks. Wish I could relive some of those times - they were the best ...
